Key Insights

Modified on: Wed, 16 Oct, 2024 at 4:25 AM

With Key Insights, users can track the development of an incident over time as new information emerges. The feature is supported by entity extraction, an A.I. technology that extracts important elements from the messages in a case.

This can include elements such as what happened, who is the (suspected) perpetrator, what is the motive for the event, who or what was affected and what is the current status of the event.

Enabling Key Insights

Before usage, Key Insights needs to be enabled by opening it, activating a topic and then picking the type of topic you wish to follow.

Presently, Maltego Monitor offers 4 topics: Civil Unrest, Physical attack, Cyber attack and Natural Disaster

After enabling a topic, the system starts to look for information within the messages that point to one of the topics. If there is any relevant information found, it should appear within seconds.

Review and validate

Scroll through the timeline to check developments. More information may appear later in time, concerning the same incident or event. When information is found, click on it to review the messages containing the information.

Users can then choose to validate or invalidate the results by clicking on the 3 dots of the piece of information. Afterwards, the user can decide to present all information, unverified information or validated information.

It's also possible to select a time interval of 5, 15 or 30 minutes. This influences how pieces of information are presented in the timeline. For instance, when there is lots of information extracted, it might be better to break it down in smaller intervals.
