Analyzing messages

Modified on: Wed, 16 Oct, 2024 at 4:25 AM

At the top of the message feed, additional tools are presented: Word count, Timeline, Accounts, and Sources.

These tools help to quickly analyze a series of messages and to further refine searches and filters. Each analysis changes according to the selection of searches, filters, timeframe, and source.

Word count

To see the most used words in a case, click on 'Word count'. Next to each word is a number that indicates how often the word was found in the search query.

Select the word to activate it as a temporary filter in combination with all other searches and filters. For example, if you want to filter messages with the common word 'car', the system will automatically filter from the message stream only messages with the word 'car'.

To deselect the temporary filter, click on the same word again.

Timeline

To analyze the timeline of messages, click on 'Timeline'. There are two timelines here. The top timeline shows the peaks and troughs of messages in the last 24 hours.

Hover over the timeline to see how many messages have been retrieved. The lower timeline gives the option to adjust the time period. To do this, drag the ends to the left or right. This affects the time period shown in the top timeline.

Accounts

To see the most active accounts, select 'Accounts'. Here you will find a list of accounts with the number of messages that have been received from the account within the query selection. Similar to Word count, Accounts can be used as temporary filters by clicking on them.

Sources

This shows the number of messages retrieved from each source. This can be useful to determine if other types of queries are needed to retrieve messages from these sources.

Zooming in on messages from a specific source is not done in the analytical tools but by clicking on sources below the name of the case.
