Using case files from a previous version of Hunchly

Modified on: Tue, 7 Oct, 2025 at 8:38 AM

Introduction

When you upgrade from one version of Hunchly to another, most of the time, the way Hunchly stores files under the hood doesn't change. This means that you can use files that were created with one version of Hunchly (ex: 2.2.5) with a newer version (ex: 2.3.2) without any extra effort - it just works!,

However, sometimes the way Hunchly stores data is changed to fix a problem, make it run faster, or help make a new feature work.

No need to worry - even then, Hunchly will guide you through the process of moving your old case files over!

Upgrading your case files

  1. Open the web browser you use with Hunchly
    1. Possible options include Google Chrome, Brave Browser, and Microsoft Edge
  2. In the browser, open the Hunchly extension pop-up; it might be hidden inside a puzzle-piece menu (as seen in the image below)
  3. If your case files require an upgrade, you should see a message saying so and should continue with this guide
    1. If the Hunchly pop-up opens as normal, you can stop here because your Hunchly setup is ready to use
  4. Click "Begin upgrade" to start the process
  5. Done!
