Installation of Maltego Evidence Desktop
You can always get the latest version of Maltego Evidence Desktop Installer at the following URL:

Download the installer MSI file to install Maltego Evidence Desktop.
Please use the pre-selected settings if possible. These include the following settings in particular:

Default settings for Maltego Evidence installation
If you change the location, please ensure you have the necessary access permissions for the location. After the installation, Maltego Evidence Desktop will not start directly. To start Maltego Evidence Desktop initially, please search forMaltego Evidence in the Windows search.
After installation, enter Maltego Evidence in the Windows search mask to open Maltego Evidence.
First start and Update Process
When you start Maltego Evidence Desktop for the first time, a loading screen will be displayed first.
Usually, the first start of the SNH-Titan will take much longer than all the others, so we ask for a bit of patience here. Usually, the first start takes between 2 and 10 minutes.
If it takes much longer, please check if your system meets the minimum requirements and contact support if necessary.
The startup speed is also significantly dependent on your internet speed. In the following, we give a short overview of the processes that take place at the first start.
The window at the first start of Maltego Evidence Desktop
Firewall exception
You may be asked to allow an exception in the firewall when you start Maltego Evidence Desktop for the first time. Please accept this request. Otherwise, Maltego Evidence Desktop will not work.
Update external dependencies
Maltego Evidence Desktop initially searches for the latest versions of the following dependencies on Maltego Technologies GmbH's servers. So it is important that you grant access to our update server.(http://update.socialnetworkharvester.com/).

Starting the databases and the necessary services
The Maltego Evidence Desktop will then start a database server and two other servers that are essential for the correct start of the Maltego Evidence Desktop.
Virtual machines and shared systems
If you run the Maltego Evidence on a virtual machine or in a system where multiple users on the same computer can run the Maltego Evidence simultaneously, this could cause problems.
Maltego Evidence desktop is not designed to work on such systems without further configuration. If you want to set up such a system, this is still possible, but we ask you to contact our support team. They will take care of your situation. We would also like to draw your attention to Maltego Evidence Enterprise, designed for simultaneous use of Maltego Evidence with multiple users and offers several other features.
By default, the system uses ports 7109-7114. See the "Advanced Configuration" section of the manual for instructions on changing these port ranges per Windows user account.
Future starts of the Maltego Evidence Desktop
For all further launches of Maltego Evidence Desktop, only those dependencies will be updated, for which an update is also available on our servers. The software will start even if you do not have access to our update servers, but we recommend providing internet access at every software start to keep possible downtimes of the Maltego Evidence Desktop low.
Licensing and Activation of Maltego Evidence Desktop
After starting Maltego Evidence Desktop for the first time, you will be prompted to activate the software using the license key provided. Possible questions and issues
"Corrupted License or missing USB Dongle"
Error message in case of invalid license.
If you receive such or similar error messages when you select your license, please check the following points.
- Make sure that you have selected the correct license file
- Make sure that you have inserted the USB dongle into your computer
- Make sure that the license file and the USB dongle match and that you have not accidentally selected the license file for another USB dongle.
- If you have received the license file via a hardware ID from us, please check that the hardware ID has not changed since the transmission. If your hardware ID has changed, please get in touch with our support and inform us about the new hardware ID.
- Make sure that your license has not already expired.
If all these points do not solve the problem, please try the following points:
- Restart your computer and wait for 3 minutes after the successful system startup
- Open Maltego Evidence
- If the software is not already activated and your license is still shown as incorrect, please upload your license again

Windows Defender Error or other anti-virus software messages
First of all, please verify the origin of the MSI file. Ensure you have received the MSI file through an official partner specified by us and not through a third party. The best way is to download the installer again using the above link software's origin and security; please get in touch with your internal IT department.
If an installed antivirus program still does not allow you to launch the installer file, please contact your internal IT department first if you have not already done so. If there are any problems or uncertainties regarding the origin and security of the software, please get in touch with support.
