The Username-Based Maltego ID Accounts feature enables Customer Organization Admins to create and manage user accounts that are not linked to email addresses. These accounts allow users to log in to Maltego products using a username and a password, streamlining access for environments where email-based identity is not preferred or feasible.
Key Capabilities
- Email-free authentication: Users authenticate using a system-generated username and password.
- Role-based provisioning: Admins can assign roles such as Org Admin or Investigator during account creation.
- One-time credential delivery: Credentials are generated with a one-time login link for secure onboarding.
- Password setup flow: Users set their own password upon first login, ensuring secure access.
How to Create Username-Based Accounts
- Access Maltego Admin Portal
- Log in as a Customer Organization Admin and navigate to the Users page.
- Initiate User Creation
- Click on Add Users, then select the Username tab.
- Define Username Prefix
- Choose a prefix that will be prepended to all generated usernames (e.g.,
acme_,investigator_).
- Select Roles and Quantity
- Specify the number of accounts to generate for each role:
- Organization Admin: Up to 20 accounts
- Investigator: Up to 20 accounts
- Generate Credentials
- Click Generate. The system will produce:
- A list of usernames
- One-time login links for each account
- Distribute Credentials
- Share the credentials and login links with the respective users in your organization.
- User Onboarding
- Each recipient clicks their one-time login link to:
- Set a secure password
- Activate their username-based account
- Login to Maltego Products
- Users can now access Maltego products that require Maltego ID using their username and password
Reset account password
To reset the password of a username account:
- Navigate to the user details drawer of Username based account
- Click on the reset password option
- Confirm the action and the account will be reset i.e a new one-time link will be generated.
Notes
- One-time login links expire after first use to prevent unauthorized access.
- Passwords are user-defined and stored securely.
- Admins can manage and revoke access via the Maltego Admin interface.
